Tensiometer for liquid and solid surfaces
A tensiometer is a device used to measure surface tension, which is a property of both liquid and solid surfaces. Surface tension is the force that acts at the surface of a liquid or solid, tending to minimize the area of the surface. In the context of liquids, it is the result of cohesive forces between molecules at the surface.
For liquid surfaces, a tensiometer typically consists of a thin, flexible rod or tube with a sensor at one end. The sensor is immersed in the liquid, and the device measures the force required to withdraw the sensor from the liquid. This force is directly related to the surface tension of the liquid.
